Our Story

Cleaarian Berry Farm started over 35 years ago, when Carol Allison wanted to start a side business to help save for her children’s college. In fact the farm name is a combination of her 3 children and her name: Carol, Lea, Aaron & Ian, which turned into Cleaarian. Many know the farm only as Carol’s Berries, an omage to the lovely lady who started the farm. These days the farm is run with the help of 3 of her granddaughters; Allie, Amber & Aunna.

Cleaarian Blueberry Farm has been a continuous staple in the Whatcom County area during this time. Selling locally to businesses and individuals. You can find our berries at Old Town Cafe, Cordata Co-op & Downtown Co-op as well as the Bellingham Farmers Market, which Carol is one of the original founding members of.

Our farm is small, but has a big impact, particularly on the taste buds. We are constantly told ours are the best tasting berries around. On only one acre of land we have three varieties of blueberries; Early Blues, Bluerays and Bluecrops. Early Blues are the first variety to ripen and can usually be found ready early to mid July. Early Blues are Carols favorite berry. Bluerays and Bluecrops come after, and are a larger berry than the Early Blues. These can be found ready mid July to early August and generally last until early to mid September.

We offer U-pick or pre-picked berries at the farm itself, and also sell at the Saturday market in Bellingham, and both the Bellingham co-ops. This cute little farm makes for a great day out with the family or just to come and get in touch with nature while picking some delicious blueberries. We’d love to have you come visit!

Our Story Update:

February 1, 2022 our story changed forever. Carol Allison the founder and owner of Cleaarian Berry Farm passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones. As the matriarch of our family she spread her joy and love to us through her blueberry farm, her stories and her baking. We miss her dearly. Below we have attached her obituary.

We are happy to continue her legacy and to share her blueberry farm and berries to the Bellingham community.
